YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE
kilo & senm_
The relationship between music and its listener is one that has existed since its first notes were sung. An unspoken bond between the two so fundamental to the art form, the two are seen as intrinsic; music exists to be listened to.
But this relationship has not been without question. John Cage infamously asked if music could be created without performers, framing the world outside of the stage as performative in his arrangement 4’33”. You Are Not Welcome Here asks its own questions - can an album reject its listeners? Can a song refuse to accommodate its audience? Must its music be graded by our virtues, despite isolating itself from us?
Find out for yourself in this first half of You Are Not Welcome Here - releasing 01/01/21.
